Sony Develops Super-Thin Bendable Display

This is not a simulated image. Sony has created this razor thin display. In the race for smaller cell phones, TV's, and the like, Sony has put themselves ahead of the game. On the other hand it could be used on Hamburger Helper boxes and cereal boxes with your mother's picture on it saying "Buy Me"

One Million Zunes Sold

Microsoft has sold One Million Zunes. This of course is nothing compared to the hundred-million iPods Apple has sold.
The Zune boasts a larger screen, FM radio, and wi-fi so you can share songs. However it's restrictions have given it a bad name. (Just remember this: if it's brown, FLUSH IT !!!!)

RAZR 2

If you're getting tired of you're current cell phone and want a new one, your wait is (almost) over. Meet the RAZR 2, the successor to the ever popular RAZR. It's packed with features, such as a very interesting See What I See feature. This allows the user to activate the camera and show the person on the other end what he sees while still talking to him. It will be available on just about every network.

Man Uses Coffee House's Free Wi-Fi Then Gets Arrested

Sam Peterson, a Michigan man, was sitting in his car outside a coffee shop using their free Wi-Fi. Since he never actually went inside the shop so he was essentially piggybacking off of the open network without authorization. A police officer grew suspicious of him and eventually questioned him as to what he was doing. He told a reporter, "I knew that the Union Street had WiFi. I just went down and checked my e-mail and didn't see a problem with that."

Under Michigan's "Fraudulent access to computers, computer systems, and computer network" law, Peterson's actions could result in a five-year felony and a $10,000 fine. However, prosecutors do not plan to throw the book at him, as they don't believe that Peterson was aware he was even breaking the law. Instead, he will pay a $400 fine and do 40 hours of community service, and the arrest will not go on his record.

Coincidentally, the cafe owner that Peterson was leeching WiFi off of didn't even realize that what Peterson was doing was a crime at the time. Neither did the police officer. "I had a feeling a law was being broken, but I didn't know exactly what

My Thoughts on DRM -- If Steve Jobs Can Do It, So Can I

Music, DVDs, software. What do all these have in common? They are all protected by DRM. They prevent you from doing what you want with said media, even though you have already bought it. For example, iTunes uses a form of DRM so the only MP3 player that you can use with it is Apples own iPod. The same is true of movies and other media. This is true because of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. This law enabled studios and record labels to put restrictions on their products. This is understandable, for many of these restrictions of to prevent piracy. However, under such a law, I am not allowed to copy a DVD movie onto my computer. I am not allowed to copy a DVD movie onto another blank disc as a back-up. I am not allowed to copy a DVD movie onto my PSP to watch on-the-go.

All such companies are doing is stopping fair, honest people from doing what they want with the media they have already bought. They aren't stopping the hackers and pirates because they already know how to get past DRM.

This DRM has proven itself to be nothing more than a money grab. Take a movie for example. It costs about $10 per person for a movie ticket. For a family of four, like mine, that's $40. If you enjoyed the movie, you're going to want to buy it on DVD a few months later. The average running price of a DVD is about $15-$20. That means that the average family has spent $55-$60 on one movie. Then you still aren't allowed to do what you want with it. Once you buy a Product it should be YOURS! Meaning that you should be allowed to do what ever you want with it (with, of course, the exception of illegal things such as selling bootleg copies).

Now I will admit that some companies, such as EMI Records, and Amazon, are getting rid of DRM completely. However that is not enough, and until others follow suit there will always be a problem with DRM.

DRM-Don't Call It Restrictions

Recently, HBO said that they don't like the current name of DRM or digital rights management (the stuff of software, music and movies, that hinders you from doing what you want with it). Since this is just beyond me, I am going to let you hear it straight from the horse's mouth . . .

"Digital Consumer Enablement, would more accurately describe technology that allows consumers "to use content in ways they haven't before," such as enjoying TV shows and movies on portable video players like iPods. "I don't want to use the term DRM any longer," said Zitter, who added that content-protection technology could enable various new applications for cable operators."

So let's assume that we do call it Digital Consumer Enablement. How would the NAME make it any better? Besides Enablement is just the opposite of what DRM is supposed to do.
DRM should be irradiated so that when you buy something, it should be yours. You should be able to do whatever you want with the product that you bought.

Spider-Man 3 Review SPOILERS!!!

Today i saw Spider-Man 3. It wasn't the best Spider-Man film but it was pretty good. There were 3 (or 4 if you count the symbiote) main enemies, New Goblin, Sandman, and Venom. I think that one of the reasons that 3 wasn't great, is because no villain got enough attention unlike Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus. The camera, at times, was very erratic and panicky. It kinda made me dizzy. The special effects were awesome. I just cannot praise them enough. Simply spectacular. My favorite scene was the final battle. Spider-Man and Harry (New Goblin) vs. Venom (Eddie Brock) and Sandman (Flint Marko). That part, I won't give away.

Apple Goes Green.

I his second letter to the public recently (the first being "Steve Jobs Thoughts On Music") head of Apple, Steve Jobs announced that they are going green. Apple is said to end use of toxic chemicals such as arsenic used in iPods by 2008. (All iPod users will be dead by then).

Creative Announces A Rival To The Shuffle

If it looks like a shuffle, acts like a shuffle, it must be a shuffle?? Not this one. This is the Creative Zen Stone, a knock-off of sorts to the likeness of the iPod Shuffle. And the best part is, IT'S ONLY $40. This means that this is either a great, inexpensive product, or a cheaply made waste of money. I really hope that it's the first one.

The Wal-Mart $300 HD DVD Player

Too cheap to buy a Blu-Ray, or HD DVD player, at the prices that they are at now? Well salvation has come for all things high-def. Wal-Mart has announced that they will release a $300 HD DVD player. Early reports say that it is up to par.

Xbox 360 Elite Relased!! The World Says. . .meh

If you didn't know that the Xbox 360 Elite was released recently, don't feel bad, I didn't notice it until the day after. the elite is merely an normal 360 with a HDMI output, 120 gig hard drive and spray-painted black. It's $480. I already have the pro version (20 gig HD, chrome finish) so I don't think that I will get this one. However, if you are just starting to jump on the Xbox bandwagon the Elite is a great choice. If anyone does leave a comment.
