That's right! Google is going for the long shot! It's set to bid $4.6 billion on wireless airwaves being auctioned off by the federal government. If the plan pulls through, what would that mean for us?
The NY Times states: "Such a provision, Google argues, will give consumers — who traditionally get high-speed Internet access via cable or telephone lines — a third option for service." The NY Times continues to argue, it would provide serious competition in wireless broadband service such as Verizon and AT&T.
Bottom Line: If Google's plan pulls through, cheaper wireless plans due to the competition and consumer choice as to what software or handsets we can use. So I-Phone and AT&T- eat your heart out!
